Melanie Dorion, AGNP
Melanie Dorion is a Nurse Practitioner founder and CEO of Pentad Integrative Health and co-founder of 2Thriving. She practices in Charlottesville, VA, focusing on environmentally acquired illnesses including persistent Lyme disease and co-infections, electromagnetic hypersensitivity, mold illness and mast cell activation syndrome. Melanie is also a weight management specialist and applies an integrative approach to help successful weight loss. Her approach is integrative and grounded in nursing, Functional and Naturopathic medicine philosophies. She studied Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in Washington before doing her Nurse Practitioner degree at Seattle University. She has received advanced training in obesity management, nutrition, exercise science and genetics. Her speaking engagements include Genova Diagnostics, A4M, Biohealth Congress FIM and is a regular speaker at Mary Baldwin University in addition to leading health workshops in Virginia.
Rob Abbott, M.D.
Rob Abbott M.D. is a first year family medicine resident at the Virginia Commonwealth University- Shenandoah Valley Family Medicine Residency Program in Front Royal, Virginia. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia (U.Va.) School of Medicine Class of 2017 where he served as a student ambassador for the U.Va. School of Nursing’s Compassionate Care Initiative, promoting resilience, compassion and mindful self-care. He was a founding member of the U.Va. inter-professional organization Compassionate Awareness and Living Mindfully (CALM), which was created to promote wellness, self-care and resilience in health science students through the practices of mindfulness, yoga, compassion and spirituality. He approaches medicine from an evolutionary and functional perspective and practices what he calls “spiritually focused and evolutionarily informed functional medicine.” In his free time, Rob enjoys creative expression through writing and communal conversation, sharing blogs, poetry and podcasts through his website amedicinalmind.com.
Trevor Shand has spent more than 20 years in the business world helping small, medium, and large businesses succeed including GE, T-Mobile and Microsoft. He has held many roles at all levels, including individual contributor, manager and consultant, to help support companies in reaching their full potential. He holds a BS from Old Dominion University in marketing and an MBA focused on Entrepreneurship from the University of Notre Dame. His versatile skills also include programming and data analytics enabling him to help grow companies, while tracking pertinent data and ensure positive outcomes. His career has focused mainly in the STEM fields but has also included roles in banking and non-profits. Trevor is excited to be working at Pentad to ensure the tools, trainings and user experiences are first class.
